Vella Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of Vella. By creating an account, starting a subscription, or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Vella.
Last updated: July 30, 2026
1. The Vella service
Vella provides devotional, educational, organizational, and community tools related to Scripture and Christian faith. Features may include daily verses, search, notes, journeys, groups, notifications, and public community spaces. Access to app content and features requires an active Premium subscription or active trial.
Vella does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or professional pastoral advice. AI-drafted commentary or reflection prompts may be incomplete or wrong and should be considered thoughtfully alongside Scripture, trusted community, and qualified help where appropriate. Displayed Scripture always comes from an approved stored edition and is never written or translated by AI.
2. Accounts and acceptable use
Vella is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old, or the legal age of majority where they live if that age is higher. By creating an account or using Vella, you confirm that you meet this requirement. You are responsible for accurate account information, safeguarding access to your account, and activity performed through it, and you may not use Vella where prohibited by law.
Do not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, scrape or reverse engineer it unlawfully, evade access controls, impersonate others, distribute malware, infringe rights, or use Vella for harassment, exploitation, illegal activity, or unauthorized commercial promotion.
3. Community content
You keep ownership of content you create. By posting publicly, you grant Vella a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content solely to operate, improve, moderate, and promote the relevant service features.
You must have the rights to anything you post. We may review, refuse, limit, or remove content and may restrict accounts when we reasonably believe the Terms or Community Guidelines have been violated. Reporting and moderation do not guarantee that all objectionable material will be prevented or removed immediately.
4. Subscriptions and trials
Access to Vella’s app content and features requires an active paid Premium subscription or active introductory trial. If the store shows that you are eligible, a plan may include a one-month trial. Apple or Google shows trial availability and eligibility, the post-trial renewal price, currency, billing period, and applicable taxes before you confirm.
A trial converts to a paid subscription and subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through the store before its applicable cutoff. When the current trial or paid period ends, app content and features lock; you can still manage or delete your account and data, restore purchases, and manage the subscription. Deleting Vella or your Vella account does not automatically cancel a store subscription. Refunds are handled under the store’s rules.
5. Intellectual property and feedback
Vella, its design, software, branding, and original content are protected by intellectual-property laws. Scripture translations may be subject to separate rights held by their respective publishers. These Terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service.
If you send ideas or feedback, you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation, while we remain free not to implement them.
6. Availability, termination, and disclaimers
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of Vella and may restrict access to protect users, comply with law, or respond to violations. You may stop using Vella at any time and may delete your account in the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vella is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, particular spiritual outcomes, or that every result will be complete or error-free. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
7. Liability and disputes
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vella is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunity arising from your use of the service. Any aggregate liability will be limited as permitted by applicable law.
Applicable law and dispute procedures may depend on your country of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact support@vella.one so we can try to resolve the issue. Consumers retain any mandatory rights available under local law.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as Vella changes. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes when required. Continuing to use the service after an update becomes effective means you accept the revised Terms.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@vella.one.
